The  precious temple areas of Koh Ker and Beng Mealea are (still ...) far away from the tourist flows!  The ancient capital Koh Ker with its fantastic temple pyramid and Beng Mealea, still overgrown by jungle, have deserved an extra tour!

 In the early morning, start from Ta Som Guesthouse with your experienced English speaking driverguide in air conditioned "pajero" (4x 4 landrover) on National Road Number 6 to Damdaek Village with its nice market area.

On your way to Koh Ker, see picturesque Khmer villages with traditional stilt houses.

After a 1 1/2 hours drive, arrive in Koh Ker.

Visit at first the 35 metres high temple mountain, called Prasat Thom.

Breathtaking views from the pyramid's highest level.

Drive around by your car to remote temple areas with gopurams and nice carvings and lintels. See the holy lingams in the cellas.

Visit the stone carries, where the sandstone, used for building most Angkor Temples, was broken.

You will have picnic lunch on a lovely place at the baray (water basin) in Beng Mealea.

Feel like the first explorers when you are searching your way over broken ruins and temple walls.

The large temple area is still overgrown by the tropical dry forest.

Beng Mealea is located on the old Angkorian road leading from Angkor to the Great Temple Preah Khan of Kompong Svay. You will see some of the old stone bridges.

In the late afternoon, you will drive back with your air conditioned "pajero"  to Siem Reap.
