Floating Village Kampong Phhluk

Daytour: Stilt village and flooded forest

You should not leave Siem Reap without visiting the floating village Kampong Phhluk.

Get deep insights into the "real" rural Cambodian way of living.

For many visitors, there are two highlights in the Siem Reap area: the Angkor Temples - and Kampong Phhluk.

Read what one of our clients writes:

" ... The temples are absolutely amazing, and will knock your socks off but be sure to save a half a day to visit the floating village of Kompong Phluk. We had never seen anything like it and visually the images of this beautiful village will stay with you forever..."

Ta Som Guesthouse client ScottSkog, from Colorado, published on TripAdvisor (november 2010)

You want to go to Kampong Phhluk? We have the tour.

Start at 8.30 am.

We see the morning market in Roluos with indigenously grown vegetables and many fish species.

Enjoy your boat tour through the flooded forests of the Great Tonle Sap Lake, habitat of many bird species and arrive in Kampong Phhluk.

This amazing floating village is built on 8 to 10 m high stilts.

We visit an island pagoda, a school and traditional stilt houses.

We have lunch in a family's house (picnik boxes with sandwiches and drinks).  After lunch, we see fishfarms and learn about the way of living in this still authentic community.

Return to Siem Reap at about 3.30 pm.

Please note: Depending on the season and the level of the Tonle Sap Lake, this program is subject to changes.

From August to January, the water level is high enough to make the boat trip through the flooded forest.

For the remainder of the year, when the water level is low, there will be no flooded forest, but the houses of the village appear like

standing on gigantic stilts. This makes a visit of this village worthwhile all year round.
