SUSTAINABILITY
TA SOM GUESTHOUSE & TOUR SERVICES has taken action to address environmental, social and cultural issues which will contribute positively to
the long term viability of the Siem Reap / Angkor tourism destination.
- As a locally owned and managed guesthouse, we actively employ local people, use locally produced food and sources the majority of our supplies locally. Hence, Ta Som Guesthouse & Tour Services directly supports other local businesses and has a positive knock-on effect on the local community.
- Ta Som Tour Services supports the projects of ACCB - Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity. ACCB is the first nature conservation and endangered wildlife rescue and breeding centre in Cambodia! All our customers who book a package tour or daytour which includes a visit of the River of Thousand Lingams (Kobal Spean) also visit the ACCB. With their "entrance fee", used as a donation for this non-profit organization, our guests support ACCB's important activities and projects. Ta Som Guesthouse & Tour Services highly appreciates ACCB's approach, as a long term "environmental perception" in the Angkor region is extremely needed.

Our guests have the opportunity to venture out to see rice paddies, water buffaloes and traditional villages. Ta Som Tour Services provides daytours such as "
countryside tour" or "
floating village Kampong Phhluk". Our aim is that our valued customers act as "
responsible tourists". This means that we ask them not to give any items to the villagers, as this can create a begging circle and jealousy. Ta Som Guesthouse & Tour Services actively supports local schools, as
education is the key issue for sustainable development.
Ta Som Tour Services also provides an
ornitological ecotour to the
bird sanctuary Prek Toal, where visitors learn about this unique but endangered ecosystem. In our newly designed "
Classic & Beach" Package, we even go further afield and offer
ecotours to the unspoiled tropical islands near Sihanoukville and to the fantastic
Ream National Park, Cambodia's best kept secret for nature lovers. These ecotours provide deep insights into endangered ecosystems and help to protect nature via the visitor's awareness.
Ta Som Guesthouse supports the "
Stay another day" campaign. Ta Som Guesthouse encourages the clients to stay longer in Angkor. Actually, the average stay of international Angkor tourists is only 1,86 nights. This "short" stay attitude is not at all sustainable and the outstanding UNESCO world heritage site Angkor really deserves to stay longer. To make this "
stay another day" decision very easy, we offer
special promotions such as 7 = 6 (stay 7 nights, pay only 6 nights), 6 = 5 (stay 6 nights, pay only 5 nights) and 5 = 4 (stay 5 nights, pay only 4 nights). In fascinating Angkor, every day, even every minute of visit is worthwhile!!!
